Reconciliation Action Plan

Giant Steps Tasmania is proud to have developed a Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) to strengthen relationships, respect and opportunities in the classroom, around the school and with the community.

VISION FOR RECONCILIATION

At Giant Steps Tasmania, we acknowledge, recognise and value the diversity of First Nations cultures, identities and perspectives. Our vision for reconciliation is centred on our goal of respectfully embedding First Nations knowledge and perspectives throughout our curriculum, processes and practices. We are committed to building respectful, meaningful relationships with First Nations people within the community, both locally and beyond. We acknowledge and accept our shared histories, which we will strive to learn about through truth-telling and learning about the ongoing impact of colonisation on First Nations peoples and communities. In recognising the impacts of colonisation, we also acknowledge the continued resilience, relationships and cultures of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. As we continue on our reconciliation journey, we are committed to the process of unlearning and relearning. We seek to create an environment where the heritage, rights, and ongoing contributions of First Nations peoples are acknowledged and celebrated.
